HeadStrong

Headstrong

Brand value: Average

Onsite Opportunities: Not much.

Work Environment: Very cool and supportive.

Work pressure/Work-Life Balance: Not much of workload. Though depends on the project. But you’ll surely not regret at any moment that you are eating software, sleeping software 🙂 Flexi timings helps you fulfill all your personal obligations.

Satisfaction with salary and quality of work: Salary is good. But quality of work, well again, depends on the project.

What type of work they do: There are projects on development, maintenance/ enhancement, and support. Most of them are maintenance / enhancement. Very few are Purely development.

Some positives and negatives of the company:

Positives: Very nice work culture, no dress code, Flexi timings, cool n friendly people.

Negatives: you may sometime not get good work if you are “really” interested in doing well in Software Industry.

Do you recommend your company to others: I wont recommend to freshers coming with a dream of becoming Next-Gen Bill Gates. For the people keen on learning Finance, Banking, Security Market etc, this is the place and these are the people. But in the end it is the Salary that does matter, so i do recommend!

Nagarro

Nagarro S/W pvt Ltd. Gurgaon
Url : http://www.nagarro.com

Brand Value -Nill

Career growth and onsite opportunities? Growth as far as package is concerned on an average its very good. You can expect a good hike after every six months but onsite opportunities are very less and for short term.

How is work environment and how efficient is the communication b/w teams or department? In terms of Work environment this is not a good place. Company can fire if you are not up to their standards or there is shortage of projects. Also in terms of communication that is not very good place.

Work pressure/Work – life balance. On an average workload is too much, that’s why they are offering hefty packages. A one-year experience guy can be designated as Senior Software Engineer and on an average after two & half years of experience there is big chances that you can be termed as Associate Team Lead.

Satisfaction with salary and quality of work. Salary and quality of work is above industry level again it depends on personal satiation level

What type of work they do: Product development, Services etc. Or if mix of these then what at percent? Major work they have is product development.

Job security. This is the first company where I have seen this type of hire and fire policy. If you are not up to their mark you can be fired any time, also here personal relations are more important for growth, a good relations with HR department can bring you many rewards. This is first company where I have seen a HR can make your life like a hell.

Some positives and negatives of the company.
Positive: Work Standard (because it’s a pure product development so u can expect good work), Package
Negative: Job Security, Personal Relations, No Transparency in the system, Work Environment

Do you recommend your company to others? Yes or No and Why? No, as I have already mentioned after working here for one or two years you can not work anywhere else (On three year experience you will become Associate Team Lead and no company can take you on this designation), work environment is also not good, but still if you want hefty packages you are welcome to Nagarro.

STM

Brand value, Career growth and onsite opportunities?
Brand value – Good, These things depend on your department and projects, this could be very different for person to
person. But yeah, onsite opportunities and career growth is good for people who are from H/W, VLSI background.

How is work environment and how efficient is the communication b/w teams or department?
Work environment is good. People are cooperative and good opportunity to pust your voice at any
level…. Communication b/w employees and management is good as for as i think.

Work pressure/Work – life balance. Well organized teams and work culture, This is a big plus point for ST. In fact ST kind of forces its employees to make a balance in their work and personal life, many forced leaves…n not much work load. Fixed daily 9.30 -5.30
routine job.

Satisfaction with salary and quality of work. Salary…is not good. Ur take home salary could be very less, but yea still fair enough. for freshers its around 5 LPA package but take home would be around 30000 PM, Quality of work will be different from one person to another.
People are expected to do their job independently here based on their skills set.

What type of work they do: Product development, Services etc. Or if mix of these then what at percent? All type of work…. product development as well as services( for internal ST only, not for others I think), basically
its a semiconductor product development company

Job security. Its Good. There is no policy of firing in ST India (especially), but they do lot of cost cutting

Technology/Platform/Language your cos work. Many technologies…both in H/w and S/W domain. Everything as per latest technologies in Embedded software and

Hardware fields…also core IT like JAVA. .NET etc

Some positives and negatives of the company.
Positive – your work and life balance, brand, cool work culture
Negative – I don’t think anything, but yea i m sure it would be different for others. May b somewhat take home
salary…

Do you recommend your company to others? Yes or No and Why? For freshers it’s good to join this company. If they plan for further studies or so…they can manage that being here and for experienced people I think may not be a good option if their priority is money.
Also for freshers who want to develop their career technically being with organization, ST is a good option.

Vital Statistics: Fresher salary, Total No of employees, India headcount, Normal %age salary hikes or any
bonuses
freshers its around 5 LPA package
employees no. around 50000(world wide), 1700+ (India)
Average hike 15-20%
yeah annual bonus based on performance

Location : STM Noida

TCS

June 18, 2007

Brand Value: Brand Value is great. “Tata” name is sufficient to impress anyone.

Work culture: Its like Indian govt job. A lot of complacency and politics go hand-in hand.

Work-pressure: Not much but depends on the project and your supervisor also. If your supervisor is a workaholic person he wants you too to sit back upto 9 pm and won’t like you to leave office even if you don’t have any work in office for the day.

Bench concept: Best in the industry. If you’re a fresher don’t expect work for the first 6 months or so. But you’ve to come to the office every day from 9 to 6.

Salary: 2.14 lakh to 2.36 lakhs. (Never trust any HR’s promises. They make false promises before hiring like “…the package has been increased and has been revised but its not getting reflected on the offer letter right now. Once you join the company you’ll get a revised offer letter.”)

Dress code: Have to wear formals, always.

Job Security: Very high

Co-workers competencies: Poor.

Recommendation: If you want a peaceful life TCS is the best but if you’ve high aspirations in terms of your career growth DON’T ever join it.

Patni

June 14, 2007

Brand Value I heard that Patni has good brand value

Career growth and onsite opportunities? one among top 3 IT companies in this regard

How is work environment and how efficient is the communication b/w teams or department? In general work environment is informal and good, however it depends on the kind of project and PM J.

Work pressure/Work – life balance. Pressure… Again…depends on project. I would say not very much different from other IT companies. Work – Life balance – one can achieve it if he/she is very serious about it

Satisfaction with salary and quality of work. Salary – Its not on par with market value. An exception is that appraisals in 2007 have been very good.

Quality of work – depends on the domain, kind of project(development/maintenance/support).Patni has mostly maintenance projects.

What type of work they do: Product development, Services etc. Or if mix of these then what at percent? Not sure about exact percent but basically Patni is into Services. May be a bit of product development stuff.

Job security. Better than any other IT company in India.

Some positives and negatives of the company.
+ves – Job Security, Onsite opportunities, Good responsibilities at an early stage in one’s career, robust processes, Good Training Programs
-ves – SALARY, Not enough transparency into appraisal process, recruitment process not rigid(no where do you find a required % of 55 for freshers J)

IF you are not keen about money Patni is the place for you.

IBM

June 12, 2007

IBM— i will say .. IBM is one of the least paying companies in the Indian market these days … well ..about work culture .. IBM is second in world as far as ppl management is concerned .. but that not for IGSI India .. in which we ppl are .. but still its good in India too. Another thing .. there is very little chances u will find some real development work (which is so called cream in industry) going in IBM .. except for in ISL(IBM software labs) .. most of the work ppl are working on is either maintenance or support ..
Well.. its a big name .. so u can cash upon it in ur future career ..that’s the best part..

Career growth and onsite opportunities?
Career Growth– doubtful.. most of the projects are support one and all of us know what we can learn out of it .
.
Onsite oppo… most of the onsite works are taken care by IBM of that country so there is really a dearth of onsite opp in IBM ..If u are lucky enough then u can get a chance after 2 yrs provided ur manager must be happy with u [not with ur work..i guess u got what i mean to say .]

How is work environment and how efficient is the communication b/w teams or department?
Work environment
is kool — the best part in IBM rather only gud thing ..
work pressure is ok types.. no one will force u to work so and so .. its just like a gov company dude ..

regarding communication , i must say that .. conducting meeting with out any conclusion is a
common practice out here .. If someone feels bore .. he/she will call a meeting ..

Work pressure/Work – life balance.
As i already mentioned .. work pressure is not much .. so life will be kool .. will get lots of time for
family etc ……….. life rocks..

Satisfaction with salary and quality of work.
IBM is famous for underpaying its employees and moreover increment is like 5-7%

Work quality .. pathetic,,,, IBM is full of nuts .. in every projects 70% of the team members are nuts ,, they don’t know anything thus they are in IBM ..

What type of work they do: Product development, Services etc. Or if mix of these then what at percent?
Mix types .. 70-30 %

Job security.
secured .. these guys are crying for resources and u r taking about job sec.. u r fully secured here..

Do you recommend your company to others? Yes or No and Why?
When you join IBM as a fresher, IBM pays more.. no technical choice !
When you become 2 yrs experienced, IBM pays less compared to others .. you become slightly technical ,gain name ,fame, confidence , brand name
When you become more experienced ,you feel you are lagging behind in the race.. you approach manager asking for more .. and he knows what to do for you .. so I would say ..as a fresher join IBM .. u r in the best place that time ..and after 2 yrs ,decide what u want

Yasu Technologies

June 7, 2007

Brand value, Career growth and onsite opportunities?

Brand Value– If your are talking about Brand Value of YASU then answer is below average brand value. In market people know about YASU’s product QuickRules but they are not aware of YASU itself as a company.

Career growth– Career growth is good for the initial 2 yrs of your carrer, if you are joining as a fresher, after that the prospect are not so green as employee growth is somewhere linked with company and YASU growth rate is not so good.

Onsite opportunities– depend upon your team
PSG Team- Yes, onsite opportunities are there
Developers Team- No

How is work environment and how efficient is the communication b/w teams or department?
Work environment is nice, flexi timing, very few dead lines.
Communication b/w teams or department- it’s depend upon you and your interaction with your Manager/Tech Lead.
Work pressure/Work – life balance.Again depend upon your Manager; otherwise work pressure is not as such high.

Satisfaction with salary and quality of work.
Salaries are OK type but quality of work is really good for the starting two years for a fresher as he get good exposure to software development. For mid-level I don’t think it is a right choice.

What type of work they do: Product development, Services etc. Or if mix of these then what at percent? Product development of their product Quick-rules, which is available in following two domains- java and dot-net.

Job security– Again depend upon your performance.
Technology/Platform/Language your company work.
Java and Microsoft technologies

Some positives and negatives of the company.
Small company, No formals, flexi timing, good interaction, friendly environment, good work for initial years of career

Average Salary, Poor Management, No Facilities like canteen, initial accommodation arrangements, lack of good amenities as compare to other companies of same level.

Do you recommend your company to others? Yes or No and Why?
If you are fresher and you don’t have other good options then answer can be YES as you can stay here for few years (depend upon you) and get chance to learn new things.

For others guys, answer is NO, try to explore some other good opportunities as they are available in the market.

Vital Statistics:
Fresher Salary- 3.45 lakh/annum
Total No of employees- 150 (approximate)
India headcount- 110
Salary Hike- 15- 25 %
Bonuses- Just for the sack of name, I can say minuscule in the comparison of market standards.

3iInfotech

June 2, 2007

Brand value, Career growth and onsite opportunities?
Its a mid sized company well known for its Banking Products. It has a high brand value in Middle east region for all its banking/insurance products. Onsite opportunities are good for those who fall under the Middle-east geography projects.

How is work environment and how efficient is the communication b/w teams or department?
I found the work environment to be extremely good.

Work pressure/Work – life balance.
One can easily balance ones personal and professional lives while working in the organization. There is no stressful work pressure. Its at par with other organizations.

Satisfaction with salary and quality of work.
I do not have enough knowledge of how the salaries are scaled up for grades other than mine. For my grade i found it to be good enough.

What type of work they do: Product development, Services etc. Or if mix of these then what at percent?
Both Product and Services are done. Although Product Development is more.I am not sure of the proper ratio.

Job security.
Yes its there.

Some positives and negatives of the company.
Here personal opinions can differ. I really like working in the company. I got a good exposure. Getting to learn so many things. Being a CMMI level company i got to know great Quality stuffs as well.

Do you recommend your company to others? Yes or No and Why?
Yes I do!! One gets good opportunity to develop technical skills.

Vital Statistics:
Fresher salary
I guess they are offering 19K stipend this year for freshers.
I have no idea of the exact figures.
